Position as Museum Host at Gamla Linköping

Your Responsibilities

The main task of the position is to drive our visitors on the little train between the city blocks and Valla farm, alternating with being a conductor on the train and performing maintenance tasks. You will belong to the Operations & Living Collections department, where part of the job also involves providing service and information to our visitors. The work is carried out in period-appropriate clothing provided by the museum.

Employment

The employment is a fixed-term position with hourly pay from May 2 to September 27. During the period from June 22 to August 14, the employment rate is 70-90% with scheduled working hours including weekends. For the remaining time, only certain weekends. The employment includes mandatory and paid internal training on May 4-5, as well as additional training by agreement. We provide period-appropriate work clothing. You will be given the title of museum host.

Your Workplace

Gamla Linköping is one of Östergötland's largest tourist attractions and one of Sweden's most visited museums. The museum is part of the Museums and Cultural Heritage unit and has its organizational home within the Culture and Leisure Administration of Linköping Municipality.

Gamla Linköping depicts the small town of Linköping during the period of approximately 1700 to 1950. The museum consists of three parts: the city blocks, the rural Valla farm, and the nature reserve Vallaskogen, with farmland that is used as it was in the past. Here, city and countryside meet within walking distance from Linköping's center.

We are now looking for new employees

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working practically and has at least a high school education. We prefer that you have an interest in cultural history/building preservation/museums. You should have good language skills as you will meet and communicate with people daily in your work, where good English and Swedish are required, and knowledge of German and other languages is an advantage.

We also require at least a B driver's license and preferably experience in driving tractors and other heavy vehicles. Previous experience in maintenance work is an advantage.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors regardless of the weather, has a strong service mindset to make the visitors' stay a fantastic experience, and therefore experience in hospitality is a requirement. We prefer that you have worked in the tourism industry. You are flexible, engaged in meeting our visitors, responsible, and self-driven. You value diversity and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others.
